GUJARAT SARVAR MANDAL

‘’ WE CAN DO NO GREAT THINGS, ONLY SMALL THINGS WITH GREAT LOVE’’

In 1960, a handful of enterprising ladies from the prominent families of Ahmedabad, under the inspiration and leadership of the First Lady Of Gujarat, Begum Saheba Tahera Mehdi Nawaz Jung, wife of the First Governor of Gujarat State, realized the need to provide free medical assistance to the very poor citizens of Ahmedabad- and – Gujarat Sarvar Mandal was born.

The Mandal is a completely voluntary charitable organization run by ladies and from a small beginning, today the number of members has swelled to over 250 ladies. Over 50 years the Mandal has flourished and with the constant efforts of its dedicated members collecting personal/corporate donations/advertisements for our brochures etc. have increased the funds so that today we are able to help about 10,000 patients yearly.

The objective of the trust is to render medical help to the poor and needy. Our dedicated members personally distribute free medicines to 9 major General Hospitals in Ahmedabad with the help of the doctors and nurses. Thus over the past 50 years. We have been able to render yeoman service to poor patients in Ahmedabad.

Our very dedicated volunteers, on designated days and timings visit these hospitals and distribute medicines, injections, needles and other medical aids as prescribed by the doctors. Needy patients are also helped for mammography, dialysis, dressing for bedsores, cataract and other eye surgeries.
